There is intense beauty in motherhood, and the ten-month journey toward it is just as divine. Throughout this journey, every woman should have the ability to experience and cherish the moments of celebration dedicated to honoring the life they’re carrying. Moments that not only reverence the baby but rightfully acknowledge and praise those responsible. The baby showers and moons, gender reveals, push presents and let’s not forget the maternity shoots!
Recently, Brittany Littles and her partner entrusted me to host one of these events, a maternity shoot. Brittany opted for two looks, the first being very intimate and all about the parents. Dad’s gratefulness and Brittany’s excitement couldn’t be contained and translated within the images as they posed in all black against a white backdrop, turned grey through the use of various lighting.
For the second look, we centered it more around Brittany and her bundle of joy. I hand-painted a stone grey backdrop and utilized brown silk fabric that dad-to-be was in charge of holding and tossing throughout the air. Although you can’t even tell that he was there, now can you?
Ladies listen, you can never go wrong with the floating fabric look! It’s minimalistic but extremely telling and beautiful. It’s going to hit every single time, you hear me?
I know just as anyone else just how magical pregnancy is, but I also am very aware of the fact that it’s never always peaches and rainbows. Sometimes we are at our lowest, our energy is non-existent, and our self-esteem is continuously up and down. That’s why it’s important for every expecting mom to have these opportunities. The love I have for maternity photography is indescribable. It’s a luxury experience. A moment for the mom-to-be centered around their power and the magic held inside them.
It fills my heart when I am able to capture these moments, and the appreciation I have for those who trust me to do so runs deep! It’s not just a service exchange for me. It’s a beautiful experience for all parties involved, and from that alone, I receive so much joy. Trust me, if I could spend all my days emphasizing the power of a woman with my lens, I would! Thank you so much, Brittany, and congratulations, girl!
